Hmm... this is interesting

Not for you, of course.

Hmm, what you gonna do with it?
I have a couple hours for an install attempt tomorrow (work shop is off site, I am doing the apartment living thing). I doubt it will get finished, I can do an all day session on Friday, that should do it.

I was bored on the first post, low hanging fruit and all that. At least I have a few replies, lol. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Just excited about finally putting in a system after having the car for >4 and a half years.

They all say something like, "is your's broken?". I need younger friends, I guess.

if you haven't already, get the plastic adapter plug for your car so you don't have to cut the stock wiring harness. Plugs directly into the stock plug. Using that and following the wiring diagrams, you can be done in 20 mins. Use the quick splice connectors instead of soldering. http://cgi.ebay.com/125-scotch-locks-quick-splice-electrical-terminals_W0QQitemZ170176529094QQihZ007QQcategoryZ48716QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem they'll have them at your local hardware store, and most places like k-mart stock them too.

GL. take your time and follow the diagrams.

No 20-minute install for me. But that was removing the interior, finishing the battery move to the trunk, removing my coax pair from the rear deck, wiring the doors for external amps, routering holes in my door panels to later cover with grille cloth, putting the coax pair in the doors, wiring for power to the amps on the rear deck, mounting the amps to the rear deck, running RCAs to the AudioControl 2XS, running 2 RCAs to the rear deck for the amps from the 2XS, installing the head unit, and installing the universal DIN pocket...

...you know, not much.

Got it hooked up and listened with the car off by 1AM on Sunday, after starting at 10:30AM Saturday (with a 4PM - 5:30PM break for dinner). Starting the car showed I had a wiring problem. Took me a while to give up on that for the night. It just wouldn't start with out a jump, but I had the dome light on for >12 hours. That wasn't it, though. Turns out I used an existing ground that really sucked by the rear deck. I DMMed it, but I got a small negative number. I thought that was because my DMM was really cheap. Something else was going on, but I disconnected the system (+) and (-) connections, then I called it a "day" by 2AM.

Started again at 3PM Sunday, and before 7PM I was done and everything was cleaned up - my interior was even all back in my car (not perfectly, but I'm waiting on parts to visually clean up the install). I started over, and made a new ground and cut new grounding wire runs from the three in the back (Profile CA200, 400SX, and the A.C. 2XS) and did several other things I had forgotten at 2AM the previous night. Including cleaning up the work area nice and good.

No install pics, not "watching sausage being made..." and all that. Nothing but finished pics, when I am finished. Tell darvex.com to hurry up if you are getting impatient (right //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif ). //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I also have everything I need (except cooperation from the weather) for fiberglassing trunk for my 15" sub. The MDF temp enclosure is wearing really, really thin after only a couple days.

That will be interesting.

Well, now I have installed two head units.

Just put one of the same Clarion DXZ475MP units into a friend's Saturn. He got his for $72. It was a 10 minute install for me, and it was more involved than my Mustang. Sweet.

OK, I'm now a pro...

...someone pay me. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Anyway, still no cooperation from the weather for the fiberglassing I want to get done. Plus, now I have the pair of Infinity Reference 4" coaxials I got (for $24) in an attempt to get some decent imaging out of my system (but keeping things really on the cheap). Need to 'glass something up for them in the kickpanels now, too. It's just been too cold and too wet for any fiberglassing of late. I also got a second CA200 to run these new coaxials. I couldn't resist another one at $39 w/ a 1yr warranty.

Between the AudioControl 2XS and the highpass on the Profile amp, I can do an active pass-band filter for my existing Polk 6X8's in the doors. I will have a "Sub-midbass-highs" setup when I finish, but really on the cheap.

Basic system overview:

Clarion head unit

AudioControl active x-over

Profile CA200

Infinity Reference 4" coaxials

Profile CA200 (#2)

Polk EX 6X8 coaxials

Profile 400SX

MB Quart Reference 15" DVC sub

Cost: $450 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

Now I just need the weather to cooperate, so I can finish the install. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif
