hmm, tell me what you think

math was never 'invented' IMO, just discovered. like fire, its always been here since the beginning of time, but took a while to discover it lol
if thats the case, then electricity wasn't "invented" it's always been there. yes we had to do something to "discover" it but it's always been there. A plasma HDTV wasn't "invented" it's always been there. in 1809 b.c. if they had the same know how that we have today we'd see Conan watching Entourage on a plasma.

my point is at any point any time man could've made electricity, it was always there ready to be invented. what makes math and ideas any different? just because they can't be physically touched?

Concept vs invention? Both can be discovered, but some are more tangible than others.

so then whats the difference in "discovering" something and "inventing" something?

the way i see it, if you invent something, you bring something to the table that is needed that we previously did not have, whether that be electricity, an internal combustion engine or an lcd monitor.

when they first made plasma tv's was it "discovered"? or invented? the process in which the Plasma was created was invented, however the final product would be a discovery?

to 'discover' something, that would mean it had to be a natural phenomenon, like electricity, fire, gravity, friction, etc etc. a plasma tv would be a discovery if you dug up some earth and one was sitting there.

An invention is a mix of principals to make something else.

For example, electricity isn't invented it is discovered. The light bulb however is invented, because it uses the concepts of the existing electricity.

There was lightning before there was man right? So we couldn't have invented that.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Indeed...

For instance if you found that running an electrical current through the plasma cell it would light up, I would classify that as a discovery.

Building a system to watch television on these plasma cells would be an invention.

Building a system to manufacture and sell as a product is engineering. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

x2+1

As was said... Plasma = discovered, Plasma TV = invented.

Anyone who has even taken a basic economics class always hears the term all things being equal. The basic meaning is if all variables are the same all the time the outcome will be the same. In a case especially like economics there are billions upon billions of little variables that add up. Every individual in an economy is a small, but relevant variable in the equation. Same with sub performance. Under a specified environment it will perform a certain way. You maintain that environment and theoretically it should perform the same everytime. So the math is correct. You just have to account for all the variables.
