HK4000D Keeps Cutting Off

Hello Guys!

I have 3 HK4000D's in my car on 9 12's (1 on each 3). One of them keeps cutting off. The fan is working & its in a good location- plenty of air. The protect LED isn't coming on & its not getting very hot, just normal operating temps.

I have it wired for 2.67ohm. I checked the sub wiring & its pulling 2.3ohm, which is in the safe range for the amp.

I have a 200amp alt w/ 4 batteries in the rear. It'll play for a lil bit then it'll cut off. The amp stays on but the sound stops.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

This was part of my old set up.....

If you dont give these amps the right electrical they will most likely blow up. I have one and it was still working when it caught on fire. If its blown let me know, I'll buy it.

The HK4000D has that seperate input board inside the amp. There is a multi-pin connector that goes from that input board to the main board. On the BOTTOM side of the PCB sometimes those solder connections for that multipin connector will break over time from vibration. Would cause symptoms like you are describing.

this dude is a beast

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I was reading on here where a guy had a simular problem w/ the same amp & some people suggested that it may be a remote wire problem & that he should try running a constant 12v to it. How likely is that?

The guy said he solved the problem but never said how...

That could be the reason too...Also just check the grounds over again. Possible that one amp is lose. I think you are doing them right by keeping them in a safe range of an ohm load. Those amps should last a life time doing it that way. Also might want to add more power to your battery bank as well. Help also.

I believe the ground is fine. theres 2 other amps grounded through the same ground distribution block as that 1 particular hk4000d.

More power to the batt bank? Do you mean ALT or a couple more batteries? I have a MechMan 200amp ALT set at 15.2v...

More batts. More you got. Makes Amp happy. Did you check the 12 turnon yet. What up dates do you have.

Lol. I haven't been able to try the remote theory yet. I've been slammin it pretty hard tryin to make it cut out but it hasn't done it again. I noticed it mainly does it when I'm idling & I've been constantly moving the past day or 2 whenever I'm in the car. I'm workin on it though bro.
