Hissing noise from tweeters on low volumes.

I have some Boston Pro60's connected to a JL 300/4 amp and I'm getting this constant high pitched white noise sound out of the tweeters when they are on low volume. It's not loud by any means by I can definitely hear it.

When I turn the volume up the white noise sound is masked by the music, but it comes back when I turn the volume back down.

The sound does not change with engine speed, and the sound still remains even with the gain down below half way.

What would be the problem here?

are your power wires running with your RCAs to your amp?

Nope, they are run down separate sides of the car. And they are at least a foot apart at the amp.

do you have an extra RCA to test with? if so maybe check for a bad RCA, if not i dunno, just thought i'd ask the easy

Well they are brand new RCA's but I'll try a different set. Could a defective amp cause this sort of thing?

i read the topic and i was gonna say not another one of those speaker wires to the cars illuminator/dimmer haha... rev's up with the engine makes the noise etc... anyways i'd try changing out the RCA cables like my man accordman said and maybe even run some new speaker wire (you never know)... hell if you had another set of home speakers or something like that hook those up and see if they do the same thing.. do the process of elimination.. gl

Yeah I'm going to try the process of elimination today. I was just wondering if anyone has had this problem before.

Like I said the noise is masked once the speakers are turned up, but it just bothers me knowing the noise is there and it might kill my speakers or something eventually.

Did you set your gains correctly? they may be too high. I have been told that the power wire next to rca's being bad is a myth. Also, as long as you aren't using 24gauge speaker wire or or smaller it shouldn't be the wire, especially since it only shows up at low volume.

Well I can hear it no matter what the gains are at, although it is less audible when the gain is lower.

Like when the gain is at 40% it is a little less audible than when the gain is at 55%.

Also, I unplugged the RCA's from the amp and I can still hear a little noise coming from the speakers. I'm going to check the grounds later today.
