hey,

Im looking to install a system on my 97' Mercedes S320. I recently went to my local car audio shop and talked to some guy there about installing it. I dont want to change my stock head unit because i think its pretty good. Im pretty sure it has a seperate amplifier somewhere in the trunk because its powering 12 Bose speakers. Anyways, my stock HU doesnt have the RCA connections that he said i need to connect the amp to the HU. He said i can get this thing called a High to Low convertor, or something like that. Well my question is will the High to low convertor make my system lose sound quality? would the RCA connections sound better?? Thanks for your help. btw idk if this makes a difference but im getting 2 12" alpine type R's in a ported box along with a USAMPS xt4000D. Thanks again.

Marvin

It's called a LOC, or Line Output Convertor. And what it does is connect to your HU's speaker outputs, and convert those speaker leads to RCA outputs for connection to an amplifier.
