High pass frequency on Midrange speakers

would like to know if a midrange speaker will play as intended if the amp is set on high pass frequency. or the higher frequency will be sent to the midrange and will thus spoil the sound quality?

so is it a good idea to hook midrange speakers on amplifiers where HPF has been set?
