high pass filters

If you have the LPF set to whatever HZ you want, it won't pass much sound above that level. The higher the DB/Octave, the more "cut" you will get in your LPF or HPF. If you are still hearing too much noise with your LPF set to what you want, then use a 2nd LPF in line before the amp to cut out any unwanted sound above that HZ setting.

The amp has hipass and lowpass filters. If you're powering main speakers you use the hipass function to limit how much bass they play. If you're powering subs you use lowpass to keep highs out of the subs.

Don't I? Haha, don't many instruments play at much higher frequencies...? Also, can someone explain more db/ octave setting?
The GTO 1004 does not have adjustable DB/Octave settings, it is a fixed 12DB/Oct. This is fine. 24DB/oct is about the best you are going to get.

For subs set them around 60-80HZ for your LPF. For your highs, set them around 100HZ on up on your HPF filter. Main speakers do not like to play sound below about 80hz, until you get into very high quality ones that can play below that.....but is not needed since that is what subwoofers are for. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

If you plan on powering Subs ONLY with this amp, bridge the amp into 2 channels, 4 ohms mono.
