High Pass Filter

SWINE FLU!!!!
I have a Pioneer Premier DEH 770, and one of the audio options is a HPF. I'm making an educated guess and assuming this is a high pass filter, because it can only be set to 80hz. The question i have though is, is there ANY way having this turned on that it can hurt my sub?

I'm guessing that HPF is for your speakers rather than the sub. So, it shouldn't affect the sub at all, it just won't let your mid ranges play as low... which is a good thing.

i don't really know how it's installed, because i didn't install it.

i do know that i can control the sub from my HU with slopes and turning it on and off through the HU though.
