Class D uses pulse width modulation to provide a lot of watts with low draw. It's used for subs because higher frequencies tend to become distorted with the PWM.
Class A and B or Class AB are traditional MOSFET type designs (if I remember correctly) and are what's preferred for multichannel applications. They're generally not as efficient with converting amps to watts.
Class T is somethign new that Blaupunkt has come up with... supposed to process and direct the power to the frequencies that need it. Some people seem really happy with these... but they're brand new.
