High/Low input question

Good afternoon everyone, I'm new to the site and have a few questions on an a 400w 4 channel boss amp I'm running a PA system in my truck through. I know this isn't that great of an amp, but I was just looking for something that was cheap and I could get a decent sound through. If all else fails, I got it off a buddy fir next to nothing. Anyhow, the system puts out somewhere between 3 to 5w as is and I know a normal headunit puts out more than that. With that said, should I run the input through the high or low plugs?

Thanks, Droy

Welcome.

I'm confused about the wiring setup. It would help if you gave us the model numbers for everything involved.

I don't know what kind of outputs the PA amp has. If you can connect it via RCA to the Boss do that. If you can't, but the Boss has line/speaker level bare wire inputs you'd wire the PA's outputs to these, then the Boss's amplified outputs to the speakers.

My next concern is the speakers, make sure they capable of handling what that amp puts out.

Sorry, the amp is a Boss 1004 Riot Amazon.com : BOSS AUDIO R1004 Riot 400-Watt Full Range, Class A/B 2-8 Ohm Stable 4 Channel Amplifier : Vehicle Multi Channel Amplifiers : Car Electronics
The output on the PA is just an Aux, and I'm pretty sure they make Rca cables with an aux end.
Yep, that'd work. If it's close enough you can use a stereo male RCA to 3.5mm aux/headphone male adapter. If it's far you can get a long cable with that configuration, or get a female aux end in conjunction with a long male to male aux cable (there are other configurations, like using a male aux end adapter and a long female to male "extension" aux end, but you get the idea). Low level input is almost always preferable to high level.

There are still some Skywalker Audio RCAs on closeout here: Dual RCA Cables - a1Components but you'd still need the adapter.

Monoprice.com has everything you'd need for whichever configuration you decide to use. Their "premium" lines aren't much to look at, but they get the job done.

Something like these: http://www.monoprice.com/category?c_id=102&cp_id=10218&cs_id=1021815 (the ones with all male ends)
