High Frequency Amp, Large Load

Hi Everyone,

I have an unusual question and was wondering if anyone could help.

I'm looking for a high frequency amplifier, ideally a dual channel 100+ Watts/channel with a signal response of up to 50 kHz. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I need to amplify a signal centered at 30 kHz with a bandwidth of 10 kHz to drive a 166 Ohm reactive load. I know that most amps are designed to drive a 4 or 8 Ohm load so trying to drive such a high load would really cut down on the power output but I really only need a few Watts output. Would there be some weird distortion if the transducer I'm driving has a resonance at 35kHz which causes its impedance to drop?

Anyone had experience driving anything other than car audio speakers with an amplifier? Thanks!

Johnny

The application is driving an underwater transducer to generate a 30 kHz communications signal. The signal will have frequency components as high as 35 kHz. Are the frequency response ratings on amplifiers reliable?

depending upon the manufacturer. But like helotaxi said, you probably won't find it in a car audio amplifier. They're more meant for the 20hz-20khz range

He's bullshitting, needing mass power at that freq is not for underwater commo, but more likely for jamming secure comm transceivers, such as police or FBI. WTF kind of terrorist comes on a car audio forum wanting help? We love america sonny boy, so go ride a camel back home.

Umm, way wrong freq range for that cool guy.
I understand that the frequency of the communicators is alot higher, but, that pulse tone can shut them down. It is the sheer energy of the wave that causes the disturbance/damage. I have sucessfully used powerful fish finders to destroy police radar guns, so it is not beyond possibility that he wants to use this same technology for a malicious purpose.
