looking for input from people who have actually used any of these subs(or suggest one not on my list). high excursion 15's i can come up with for massive low end sealed, under 4 cubes(under $300) are:

CSS sdx15 30mm xmax $270

Mach5 ixl15.2.2 22mm xmax $220 shipped

Tempest X-2 27mm $219(needs largest enclosure poss?)

FI Q 27mm $295 shipped

Power will be from a Sundown sae-1200. looking for incredible low end extension from a sealed box between 3-3.5 cubes. last 15 sealed i ran was a RE SE and it sounded good, just want a little more

I would get the tempest x-2. Cheapest driver on the list and probably the best designed. Kevin really knows his stuff he's just a no BS guy with little overhead and likes to give back the community. I'd do 3.5 cubes and throw in some polyfill. You get a overall q in the .7 range either way so it should sound really good.

i feel that the sdx15 will go lower in the same 3.5 enclosure, not sure why, but i thought the tempest-x requires the largest enclosure out of all the subs

The new tempests have a bit more motor strength than the old ones and do better in smaller boxes than the old ones. Regardless alot of the small box only stigma came from Kevin recommending such big boxes as they were mostly used in home theatre where space is of no concern and

unfortunately the shiva x2 is only $19 less than tempest

oh sorry I thought they were cheaper than that lol. Anway the SDX gain an output advantage below 28hz everything above that goes to the tempest in 3.5 cubes. If you do 3 cubes the SDX is louder from 32hz and up. I modelled them real quick in winisd.

im looking for which one will have the most output from 25-35/40hz in 3-3.5 cube

i can fit 3.5. the tempest will have the most output from 40-25hz in this enclosure?
not quite all the way to 25, they meet up at 28hz or so, but yeah. The tempest has a 1db advantage from 40hz and up and maintains some sort of advantage to 28. Even a the bottom of my graph at 20hz it's only finally behind by .3db's. The tempests f3 is also 2hz lower. The tempest will also be right at xmax with 1000 watts applied at 20hz so it's a good match in that box. To get xmax out of the sdx is 3.5 cubes takes 1300 watts.

since my amp is a sundown sae-1200 maybe the sdx is a better choice due to power requirements/handling?
