high amps at idle, voltage drops as rpm's increase

well i did my big 3 but was getting alot of whine resonating through the cab, not the speakers. so i took that off but still have the stock one. i am hooking that up to a diff. spot friday...you think that would cause it, just that one wire not upgraded?
Very well could be but i can hook my Dmm up to my tahoe, with the stock alt 2 runs of 1/0 gauge, and two dekas in the rear im doing right around 15-15.2volts!!!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif And i dont have the big 3 done!! So that wire not being hooked up might be causeing your problem its not completeing the objective of the big 3!!

i understand that, the only reason i took it off was to not have the whine through my cab, it was a bad spot and am hooking it back up on friday but i cant think that one wire would cause this, ecspecially since the stock one is still there

 
also do you think a warranty would cover a new alt if i have a system in there? im guessing no

everyone i know has not had a prob with warranty shit with aftermarket work done, i would try to tell them you had it pro installed tho

 
so you left bat and alt grounds with the same gauge as the 2nd bat?
yes, everything is ran in 1/0, all big 3, amp wires, and wires to second batt. the only one that isnt is the engine block to the chassis which is the stock wire due to me taking off the big 3 because of cab whine

i think your alt is going out then man, if hooking that wire back up fix's it i would love it if you pmed me and told me all about it. id love to hear more

 
all your amps are running off your 2nd bat too right(sorry for the retarded question but you never know until you ask)\

nvm you said it did it even with the radio off

 
ether way man if the alt was working right the bat should stay higher when not in idle then at idle, id have the alt looked at for free Friday after you try the engine ****** ground(if it doesn't work)
