HIFONICS XX HERCULES to power 2 x 15 " Kicker L7's

L7 are efficient as hell.
Lots of people run their Herc's @ 0.5ohms daily.

From what I've seen, running @ 0.5ohm will be fine.

Just go with 2 L7 15" Dual 2 ohms.
We installed a pair of L712 D2s on a Herc a few weeks ago that a customer brought in. 04 grandam with solid electrical 1/0 big 3 and Optima yellow top under hood.. The amp would not do .5. I dunno, if you are gonna run .5, I think I would get an amp stable at that.

Yeah get dual 2 and run them at .5. The Herc will handle it fine. KB does run his at .4 with his BTL with no problems thus far.
Im just saying that the setup we did with the exact same speakers this guy wants to run did not work at .5 on the herc. I dunno.

His shit blew up at .5. For the price maybe go with an orion 2500d. Youd get a little more out of it and they go for a pretty good price in the classifieds. And form what I understand as long as you got the electrical .5 is not a problem on the orion. I wouldnt take a chance with the herc specially since jeepintn shit blew up like the first day.

what do you mean you had bad experience witrh the hercule at .5?
I think with those amps it is just a crap shoot if they will work below rated impedence. Too many variables to really know until you try. It did not worjk for us and our application with two L7s at .5 ohm. I still think 2 L7s will be fine on it at 1ohm though, 2000 watts should do nicely.

1300@2ohms, I swear. I got the specs sittin right hear in front of me:) .

its been clamped at 18xx @ 2.1 ohm reactive. 24xx at 1.1 reactive.

and if you think the herc won't run below 1 ohm you're extremely mistaken. mine is at .35 (.4 on the DMM) daily and it barely gets warm, has never cut off even on wide open sudden bursts. i believe you might have a friday amp or something. they have been burped down at .175 without problems before.

and i've seen numerous posts of orions frying at .5. not dissing them, theyre great amps, but it seems like .5 daily = short life span for a 2500D.

Is this modded, or with the protection circiutry intact. Im just saying every case is diffrent. Our herc wouldnt do it without going into protect. They are great amps, but alot of variables come into play with running below recomended impedence. I sell the things, im not trying to down them:). Sorry if it was took that way.

protection circuitry hasn't been touched. got it brand new in box, ran it at 1 ohm for a while then got the btl and its at .35. there's plenty more people running them unmodded at .5.

All im sayimg is that it did not work for Us. Could have been a bad amp I dunno, I have never tried another as the 1st one didnt work for us at .5. I cannot recomend something to someone that didnt work for us. I was only posting my experience. Why run a amp below recommened impedence if you have the choice to buy a amp rated at .5 or 2ohms? It seems like a risky indeavor. Alot of companies will not warrenty that.

i was not recommending to run it at .5, of course it is a risk, but i was simply stating that these amps are very capable of handling low impedances. the choice of actually taking the risk is up to the owner.
