Hifonics xx-Colossus trouble

When I turn the radio on, I hear this weird whistling noise coming from the amp. It freaked me out so I turned the radio back off. So I checked all the connections on the amp and turned it back on. Same problem, but this time i turned the bass knob up and the noise stopped. Then it started making the noise on the bass notes and tapped the inputs and the noise went in and out. i played it at low volumes for a few minutes and pop!!!! the amp started smoking. i tuned it off for about 20 mins and turned it back on. Still works, but the noise is still there. Does anyone know what this could be??? Thanks
