no you shouldn't even use bass boost it distorts signal

the gain setting will be different depending on what deck you are using, so why does that matter

No dont turn up your gain a little more instead. set the gain properly with a dmm.

If it isn't pushing your sub correctly then get a better amp dont clip the amp

Bass Boost only distorts in most cases. Properly set your gains using a DMM.
