Im on a budget right now...i prefer not to get the alpine mrd-m1005...but if the reviews for the hifonics are bad, then i guess i'll get the alpine...

sooo how do hifonics perform? OH YEAH

this amp would be used to power two alpine type r- Alpine SWR-1242D

Do you guys think Hifonics BXi 1606D will do the job?

--------------

first option

Hifonics BXi 1606D $289.00

# RMS @ 4-Ohm: 1 x 550-Watt

# RMS @ 2-Ohm: 1 x 1100-Watt

# RMS @ 1-Ohm: 1 x 1600-Watt

---------------

second options

Hifonics BXi 2006D $353.00

# RMS @ 4-Ohm: 1 x 650-Watt

# RMS @ 2-Ohm: 1 x 1300-Watt

# RMS @ 1-Ohm: 1 x 2000-Watt

Alpine MRD-M1005 $347.00

# 500W x 1 RMS (4ohm, 12.0V, 1% THD+N)

# 700W x 1 RMS (2ohm, 12.0V, 1% THD+N)

# 700W x 1 RMS (4ohm, 14.4V, 1% THD+N)

# 1.000W x 1 RMS (2ohm, 14.4V, 1% THD+N

Well your definently gonna get more power out of that Hifonics.

i thoguth hifonics are really lower than what they claim?
As a generalization yes, the HiFonics amps do tend to be somewhat overrated as far as power output is concerned but not so severely that you can expect more power from the Alpine.

Add to that the fact that the HiFonics offers more wiring flexibility being stable to operate when presented with a 1 Ohm load and the HiFonics really is more bang for your buck.

bxi1606d is a lot of juice for a single 12" R. are you planning to add any subs in the future or some sort?

i run the bxi1606d for about a month now and its keeping up real well. i have my gains set a little under the limits to the point where it clips and no problems at all. bought mine on eBay on one of the sellers with best feedback for like 255usd or something

oh, its for 2 12" type rs. would it push it?

I Have the 1606D and it runs great.
By the way. Sonicelectronix.com sells on Ebay too. I saved $50 by buying the amp on ebay over their storefront. Same amp, Same quality, still brand new, $50 less and less shipping.
I second this. Before you buy anything from Sonic always check their ebay store, it will almost always be cheaper, or you could probably call them and have their main store price match the ebay store if you don't want to go through ebay for some reason.
