Hifonics BX1500d trouble

I installed, it POUNDED....but the 80amp fuse blew on the battery side on my way home from work, i only had a 60 amp to replace it with (looking at my 300amp anl fuse that just came inthe mail today, installing tommorow)

anyway, since i put the 60 amp fuse in line, the amp doens't seem anywhere near as powerful, would the amp sense the 60amp fuse and cut to half power (the amp has two 60amp fuses in it) or did i maybe blow something, i figured if an amp blew, it completely blew. Any ideas, or should i wait till i get the correct fuse installed to worry then? any suggestions would be appreciated

2nd question,

What exactly does the "Phase" knob do, and what should i have it set at for a single 12" RE HC mounted normally (magnet in box) i imagine it's for ppl who mount thier subs externally, but the manual isn't very clear at all on how to set this.

Thanks!

No, the amp won't "sense" the fuse. Only possible thing is that the new fuse isn't letting through enough current, so the amp isn't making as much power. But, most fuses will let through about twice their rated current before they blow.....so I would think the amp is still getting enough.

well if the amp isnt sensing a fuse it would cause the amp to go into protection my guess is ive never used the brutus but anyway . The 60 amp isnt alowing enough current draw for the amp to use it potential ur prolly only getting a lil overhalf of what it was pushing . I'd get another 80 amp , now is thsi the fuse on the hot wire comign from ur batter or the amp fuses ? . If its the hot wire coutn how many fuses are on the amp and add them all together say 3 x 40 amp fuses

u'll need a 150 amp fuse on the line i would reccoment a circuit breaker last for ever and all u have to to is reset them. No more replacing fuses.

in that case got get ur self a 150 amp circuit breaker and be done with it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Now if ur plannign to run more get ur self the 200 amp circuit breaker.

Your fuse cannot control or limit the amount of current flowing through it, it will simply blow if current flow excede it's blow point. How hard the amp is trying to work is what is going to determine how much current the amp is trying to pull or use. The fuse has no way to limit what is trying to be drawn other than blowing....... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

a 200 amp ANL fuse near the batt, on a single bx1500d wouldn't b 2 much, would it??
that fuse is for the cable itself, not the amp, the amp is protected by the fuses on it.....and it's going to be powering the bx and a bahn 8002t (1/0 run to 2 4awg)

i see all this debate about how fuses work, but nothing reguarding my amp issue, has anyone ever ran into this on any amp?

nope.. i kept blowing fuses though.. check the fuses in the amp, and the gains/bass boost and all that business.

Oh, and get a 240 amp circuit breaker. i got a 140, but if you're running more than 1 amp off it get the 240.. wonderful thing that breaker is //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
