Hifonics Brutus amps

So I was just wondering if people had anything good or bad to say about the hifonics Brutus amp line or the bxi line. I am looking at either the 2000 rms or the 2600 rms amp. anyone have any experience with them? any comments? I've heard from a shop who had them benched that they only put out around 1800 clipped off the 2600 rms one.... but that may be a false reading... Anyone tested them? any and all help is welcomed!

There are really alot of threads on this.

What year model are you looking at? The older (06/08) models put out about 20% less than rated. I run my bxi2006d for 1600. However, nobody has really benched them...it's more of a "common knowledge" assumption.

However, though iv'e never used a 2010 model, they are said to do rated. Can't confirm this.

I run the bxi1610d but I don't have proof what there rated for. I do know that the 1610 model performed and sounded (power wise) the same as my bxi1606d before that got stolen. Same thing when I had my Power Acoustik A2400D as well.

I've owned couple Hifonics amps and all of them have served me well without any issues. bx500, bx605, bx1000d, bx1500d, bxi1606d, bxi2006d, bxi1610 (current).

Couldn't tell you if my bxi2010d is doing rated or not, but with 4 volt pre-amp outs, a 200amp HO mechman alt, and 2 12" Type X's...I have to spank the gains pretty high to even get the subs moving, let alone play with the bass boost and all that crap (big no-no, I know)

I was able to hear a difference switching from a Hifonics amp to a Orion amp. Hifonics = cheap dirty power.

I am running the BXI 08" series and I've bought 3 because they do put out for the money.Not one has failed yet,even with all the horror storys I've heard.I actually want to stay with the hifonics line just for that reason,I've ran the amps too.they have seen .5 and .6 loads and there still pounding like I just got them.

I've been looking for a deal on a xx/or xxv line 5000w or 8000w.money is a little tight thou since I just bought 2 ss xxx 15's and one recone.The goliath or sampson will have to wait.

If your going for one of those amps ,definitly get the 2600 its strapable.Save some headaches down the road if you ever want to get big.

Brutus series are decent amps.
