i have had this amp for about 6 months and since about a month after i got it it has been going into protect mode. i have run a kicker l7 with it at 1 ohm and now today it decides just to go straight into protect mode. it starts and the light comes on and then the sub gets power for about a second and then it turns off. i am looking for a new amp but can not afford because i got a new car, so i was wondering if it is possible to fix the amp?

thanks.

where is the amp mounted?

is it vertical or horizontal??

is there adequite ventilation???

maybe you could put a couple of pc fans in there to give it better curcuilation.

or maybe put some washers underneath the feet of the amp to give it better circulation.

good luck

the amp is sitting on the side of a box. it is in the trunk of a dark blue mustang so i bet it gets hot in their. but the amp went into protect mode in my jeep wrangler i had it in to. i will try that though. thanks for the advice.

i rewired it to 4 ohms and it did the same thing

wow..thats not good.....sell the amp for 200 bucks ASAP...

till then...

make sure all the connections are solid...

add a fan to the top of the amp blwoign air across it to cool it offf

take off the back panal so heat can escape better...if possible aim a fan somewhere towards the gap bewtween the box and the side of the amp to get some circulation into the exposed circuit board under niether the amp...

i just took the amp off of the box and it works ok. i think tomorrow i am going to go and buy a couple computer fans to put on it. it has also smelled like something is burning up in my car. it is like the amp is running so hot it is burning something.

how could i wire the fans up? would my remote wire power them? i have my remote hooked into my fuse panel so i wouldnt have to pull my factory cd player out.

the amp just about started a fire in my car today. i had the hood up so i could pull the fuse but their was a bunch of smoke. i think the amp is shot.
