Hi, I'm new and apparently an idiot

Question:

Can't find anything to use as my remote wire. I'm doing something lame now (that nobody would approve of so I won't drag that out) that requrires me unhooking the battery every time I get out of the car.

What are my options? How do I get to my cigarette lighter, is that garenteed to work?

Cold I run a small wire from my battery, to a switch that I'd mount in my car, then run my remote to that switch so I could turn the amp off when the kids are in the car? That would be preferred.. but I'm not sure it's possible.

yes you can use any switched or fixed 12v source if its fixed you must have a switch if not then its just user choice i personally use my HU to control if i want my sub on or off but it is up to u

why!??!?!?!! the hell?

just go get the remote wire and fix it the right way, then through ur HU no matter stock or not stock u can turn the *** all the way down, or if u have a hu that does it turn the sub off

it wont drain your battery if the amp isnt drawing power, even though it is on..

just simple turn sub off so its normal music then when u want click it back on...

that battery idea is too much

Sorry it's too much for you I have the remote wire, just so you know.

Found a wire in my HU that turns on/off with the key. Just used that. I can turn the bass down, but I really wish I could turn the subs off when the kids are in the car. Oh well, this will work for now... I can install a switch whenever I want, I guess.

chances are you are either not controlling the sub output or you are using the bass portion of the eq to do it, which can cause problems for your little speakers as they are getting the same frequency going through them as the sub

Did you make sure your power wire is in the power wire space and not in the ground wire space //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
its probably this. same thing happened to me. just being careless can cost a shitload of money. I blew 3 80 amp fuses before I figured out that the power and ground were switched (should have double checked, never thought i would have done that but like i said, just being careless)
