hi im in need of some amp help

i have a 18" sx re sub in a 6.5 cubic box that i had powered by a ne1 and its at 50 percent gains and when i play ANY bass note and it hitss a lil hard it goes into procetection ive had this amp for years so i thought it was the amp disconected the sub from amp turn on and off car the amp auto goes into protection i go to a local car audio store buy a 400 dollar ma mono amp connect it and put it at 50 percent gain and bam it throws into protection and does not come out of it what am i doing wrong? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif(( i had the guy test my sub on another amp he hooked it up to a 400 watt mono and it worked but of course barly moved itlol any help woudl be awsome

Bad ground?

Insufficient current?

Without a bit more knowledge of what you're working with in terms of setup (outside of the specific gear you're running) it's hard to tell...

k im running of my stock battery and alt and the groud is just connected up to my seatbelt bolt hmm is there a way to test a good ground?
