James Bond fanatic?

He is referring to me......See my username........I may change it now to the JAMES BOND FANATIC!!!!........Has a nice ring to it.....

It is exactly what happened during WWII, except at a much more rapid pace because of the enormous demand the government created for goods of war. Do we agree on that?
Yes. But I attribute it more to the lack of global competition. The majority of the developed world was in ruins and did not possess the manufacturing capacity of post-war America.

Got it. I missed it that the first couple rounds. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Ummm no. There's MAJOR flaw in your argument. I purposely didn't bring cookies to class and left them at home for after school because I knew the teacher would try to make me share. This is what will happen (and is happening) in the U.S. with large corporations. When they have to give up a large chunk of revenue just to play the game, they'll go elsewhere where restrictions aren't as bad. Why wouldn't they? What is their incentive to stay?
Name one western country that is more capitalistic than the US. It's cool, I'll wait for a new country to magically show up. Any other western country will be much more regulated and socialistic than the US.

But you're right, you can just hide your cookies and forget about the starving kids in your class. Most people would rather pretend bad things weren't happening than try to fix them, or stop them from happening at all.

Also, a national sales tax seems like an interesting idea.

You seem like you are pretty educated in this stuff so I will ask......If government spending stimulates the economy and fixes unemployment then why hasn't it helped with all the spending of the Obama administration......This administration has spent more money than the previous presidents all the way up to George Bush combined......

I think the spending is WAY WAY out of hand and past the point of stimulating anything.....

Exactly I think the spending is WAY WAY out of hand and past the point of stimulating anything.....
The red and blue are independent.

The stimulus was successful in stimulating the economy. GDP did grow from the time period 2009 to 2012.

The reason, I believe, the stimulus was not as successful as it could have been is the deployment. We had to have "shovel ready jobs" and what some agencies did with these funds is pave roads that were already recently paved. Reason is that the money had to be spent quickly and they already had the environmental studies handy, so it's an easy choice. A much harder choice is a stimulus that gets Americans back to real, steady, work. It was why FDR's CCC was more successful (another reason is the CCC didn't have the red tape) is that the projects were larger and self-renewing. An example is the Tennessee Valley Authority. TVA still generates cheap electricity to this area today thanks to "stimulus" efforts. Those are good paying jobs for nearly 80 years. I think Obama tried that with green energy but failed. Here's why, instead of guaranteeing loans to political partners (on both sides) it should have been a competition/grant type of deal. A good model is the "X Prize" in space exploration.

So while I do take some issue with the magnitude of dollars spent, I take more offense to him dousing the economy with gasoline instead trying to use a little kindling and build a roaring flame.

Until someone, somewhere finds an appropriate solution for the millions among us with only the skills for assembly line labor, we are going to be in trouble. I have no idea what to do with them and I don't believe those living-wage paying jobs are ever coming back.

We have a sad situation in this country and GOD only knows I wish I had the answer........My grand kids are going to need this engine rolling again if they are ever going to have the same opportunities that I have been afforded.......

I appreciate all of the passion you guys share in fixing our country even though we may not agree on HOW to do it..........thanks....

Pfft. Prove it. Who has played the best James Bond? I await your answer.

(I've actually never seen any James Bond movies, so I really have no idea. Are they good? What movie should I start with?)
