Hey Christians

"I don't risk anything by believing."

Yes, you waste dedicating your life to something that doesn't exist. You risk propping up a religious system that gives life to extremists. You risk believing in the wrong god (in fact, probability says you're very likely in the wrong religion). Worst of all, you risk not really being a believer: believing because it's your safeguard is not really believing at all.

"That's why it's called faith."

Faith is bad, irrational behaviour. You should not believe in something for which there is so much contradicting evidence.

"Religion gives morality."

Well, I'm not sure that stoning my children to death is my version of morality. Aside from that, the Western world is grounded in the Golden Rule (which is something we don't need religion to understand), and the middle East is grounded in Islamic rule where you can **** your wife. Religion does not equal morality in any way, shape, or form. A study of humans historically demonstrates that we have had some semblance of morality with and without god.

if anyone actually does watch it, there is quite a few points that can argue against what has been said in here.

It's saying we are created by an intelligent designer, a creator, just an //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

believing in God is fine when it pushes the believer to do good in the community.
I disagree. There is no reason why believing in god should lead to doing good in the community, and I don't think he should be used for such a method. Doing good in the community should be because people understand the social benefits to doing such a thing. Hinging everything we do around what god thinks is right (within each specific religion) is not beneficial to us as a collective.

I have one question..

What if I am a really good hearted person. Not the best person in the world, but overall throughout my 23 years of living I have sinned, but I never really sinned to an extent where I did something severe like kill somebody etc. I have never cheated, or anything of the sort. With that being said if I continue my life with strong morals and a genuine heart, JUST because I dont believe in god does that mean in theory I would go to hell?

Also, what if a person is living by themselves their whole life? Never heard of God so how is it fair to say he should go to hell?

BS IMO
They are not held responsible, you are held responsible for what you know.

This is why babies and children have a free pass.

Not trying to push the Bible, jsut stating it because it pertains to what you asked.

it says, it is better you not know than to know and not act. not word for word, but yoiu get the point;)

That is your opinion, my opinion is if it benefits society, who cares what the motive is.

The only scientific reasoning that can be provided for a creator god is that of the idea of the big bang singularity, but even that theory does not work. There is no substantial evidence for a creator god; how could there be? Mind you, I have no problem with the deist god who doesn't answer prayers, doesn't perform miracles, doesn't use opaque and hellacious judgement, as improbable as this god is.

Of course. You should be in hell for all eternity. God is great!

If people are doing good things for an invisible man in the sky (especially when man is interpreting what is good), it is very different from doing good things for the people who need it just because they need the help. Surely you understand the difference?

Correct, you have been given the chance to follow God, and you have "turned your back" so to speak. By not following believing in God you have told him that he is not good enough for you, that him sacrificing his son for you was not enough.

With my understanding of my religion (christianity) you can not get to heaven via works, only thru the acceptance of Jesus as your personal savior. so by default, you although not offensive in your life, will not be passing the pearly gates:crap: That is according to my religion. Your religion may say otherwise, or possibly your understanding of my religion. This also applies to me, and everyone else. I feel that the works I do add to the blessings I recieve or do not recieve, however it is through "grace" that I am saved.
