Hertz tweeter is broken

I have a Hertz Ht 25 tweeter that the terminal has broken off of. I'm wondering if I should replace the tweeter with the same Ht 25 or with a newer one. Does it make a difference if I mix and match tweeters and speakers? If not does anyone have any suggestions as to what would go well with my Hertz space 6 speakers?

Thanks!

If you're running passive I'd say get a replacement of same tweet.

Yes I do have the cross over that came with them. So as it stands I should just order a pair of the same ones I have if I can find them.

do you have a little box that the speakers connect to and that connects to the amp?
Yes, that's how you'd know. Look at this link:

HSK 165 - Hertz Hi-Energy car audio speakers system

On the very right of the picture, did the set come with that little box and did the guys install it for you?

Most setups aren't truly "passive" even if they use a passive crossover. You still use active crossovers for mids and subs.

If you can get a newer tweeter, talk to Hertz first...chances are, the new tweet may like the same crossover frequency as the old one. Some passive crossovers are also adjustable, not sure if yours are, but that's helpful if you get a new tweet and it doesn't sound just right.

My crossover does have a few different setting I can do with switches and jumpers. I emailed the hertz guys just waiting for a response. Thanks for the help guys I'll let you know what they say.

Awesome, that's the way to do it. Once it's installed and if it doesn't sound right to you, ask your installer to help you try different jumper configurations.

Similar situation as you btw. Passive x-overs, with configurable slope and frequency, blew one tweeter. Went from 28mm silk domes to 19mm titaniums. Just dropping it in...sounded virtually unbearable. Looked at the manual, set the jumpers differently and it sounded very nice after.

If you're getting it warrantied, get whatever they give you. If not, I'd look for the same size or large silk dome.
