They are completely different component speaker systems. The HSK and the MLK are different in every way. The ML28 tweeters are MUCH better - no comparison. The ML 165 woofer is so much nicer, in every aspect - both in build architecture and sound. The crossover is even substantially better. If you've held them both, you know they are nothing alike.

I personally consider it pointless to spend that much money on a pair of speakers, and not make the incremental jump to the MLK.

The HSK are louder as a result of higher sensitivity - that's the only thing in their column as far as i'm concerned, but something I don't feel is worth the additional distortion.

Don't get me wrong, they are both nice speaker sets. For $850, the MLK are a bargain IMO ($900 after tax).

FYI - I am comparing the pricing of the HSK-165XL vs the MLK-165 as "incremental". I agree that the pricing of the HSK-165 is pretty decent, not quite half the MLK, but still quite a bit less. But I wasn't a fan of the HSK-165 overall, the tweeter is awful IMO. The woofer is decent, audible midrange distortion, but that extra output and "warmth" is agreeable by most people. The HSK-165 aren't very accurate speakers IMO, whereas the MLK are unforgivingly accurate. I prefer the latter.

Side by side - I prefer the HAT Clarus over the Hertz HSK for the same price.

Not really, the Hertz HSK is $369+ tax and the HAT Clarus is $519+ tax around here.

You're getting a better price on the HSK then I can. I'll have to look into that, either my memory is bad or my local shop is making an extra dime or two. Their MLK and ESK pricing was right on... I agree the Clarus should be $519, even direct from Scott.

good luck getting any warranty or service on a discontinued model bought from Korea - if you're lucky and it's discontinued and not a korean knock-off.

No, that's not the set we are talking about - the current version HSK isn't anything like that. Visit Hertz's website and see for yourself. We are talking about buying from authorized dealers.

See my problem is I have no Hertz dealers in my area and according to the website there are no dealers in the US.

Im sure there are but not being able to find them kinda limits me. That and the fact that the seller I posted came recommended from a few people on this board allong with the set I posted. Hence my purchase.

hertz is an overseas company and just recently have they made that US site. i try to spread the word as much as possible. they are working on a link to have it linked on their home page.

it's all a matter of knowing who to ask.
