im new here please help with my nissan hardbodys audio it sucks!!!all new conponents

ok i have a real nice 1995 nissan 2wd hardbody extended cab im trying to fix up on a TIGHT budget.

now for starters i bought a pioneer dehp-2100ub head unit which i thought was a decent cheaper headunit and i bought sony xplode 6.5" 4 way speakers for the rear and i used some older infinity 4" 2 way speakers for the front doors now the REAR sonys especially sound like crap!they crack under even the slightest bass i said WTF it sounded better stock!

one of my friends said since i bought the sony speakers they say like 220 watts or something like that but anyway he says im underpowering them and i need a higher power amp thats why they sound like crap.

i do not want to add an amp just for conponents so let me know.if these speakers do need an higher power amp ill sell them and get some kind of speakers that i can power off my headunit.OH also im using the stock trucks wireing for the speakers, i know i should run new wireing but i really dont want to mess with that unless i have to.

Im just trying to get my components sounding good then ill be adding eater 1 good brand 10" sub or a 12" sub powered by a mono class d amp but i need these components to sound good before i do anything.

THANKS AND ANY HELP IS VERY APPRECIATED!

sony speakers sound like crap regardless of what you power them with. infinity reference would be a better choice.

a head unit will only give you so much volume, and a head unit will give you a lot of distortion. if you find yourself using more than 50% volume on a head unit, you're going to hear distortion without an amp - regardless of what speakers you run.

if you want speakers that play loud off the HU - you need to look at efficiency ratings. Get a speaker that is >91dB efficient and you'll get the most out of the head unit amp.

also, keep bass level down low. you'll just get more distortion with it up.

how are the rear speakers installed? are they in a box? your best bet is an enclosure for them, i assume they are 6x9's.

oh, and the stock wiring is fine for head unit powered speakers. the head unit is only like 12W RMS anyway. just make sure your connections are perfect. if you can see any bare copper, it's not a good connection. use crimp terminals (butt splices) behind the HU and female disconnect terminals at the speaker.

Also try Cadence FSX, Diamond Audio D3s's, Polk Audio db6's, to name a few 6.5" all can be found online ~$50-60

Pioneer TSA series speakers are carried in most brick & mortar stores and do fine unamp'd

Alpine & Polk make fairly strong and sensitive 4" speakers too.
