Hey everybody,

So I'm looking for an amp, however rather than just ask what's the best, here are my specific requirements. I'm looking for recommendations keeping in mind the following:

1) 4-channel

2) 65-100 watts per channel, 4 ohms

3) around $200 (willing to go up to $300 if I have to)

4) new or refurbished from an authorized dealer (this means no used amps, no eBay, no questionable resellers)

I'd love to try a class D amp (like the Alpine PDX's) but they seem too expensive, so it's not a requirement.

This will be taking the signal from an Alpine HU and driving four Rainbows (SLC comps up front, KX or SL coaxes in the back). What would you get?

Thanks all,

-John

Here's the pdx for just under $300, http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=18377

I would say this amp cause it's a very nice amp for the price but there sold out right now and it's directly from the manufacturer with a 2 year warranty. http://www.cadencestore.com/ProductCart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=125&idproduct=383

You could get the bigger one for a little more and just keep your gains down. http://www.cadencestore.com/ProductCart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=125&idproduct=385

I would be leary of those cadence amps . Granted it may have been just this one. But I witnessed a brand new mono class d pulled from the packaging, installed , and within 10 minutes of playing it started sending dc to the sub.

It might just be that amp. Just a couple of weeks ago, Jacob from Sundown said the Cadence amps are a great buy at their price point in this thread:

http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=261301&highlight=cadence+txa

The only problem is that they're sold out of the size I'd want (the 3004) and they're huge.

I may be wrong, but aren't most class-d subwoofer only? Meaning they only play the frequency range that a sub would normally run.

In your price range, look for a Tru 4.65 (like I have). Normally run higher than specified, high end company, lots of upgrade options (burr brown etc).

Mine has been upgraded with the burr-brown and runs 85rms to all 4 channels. Great amps.

EDIT: Then I finish reading and see you don't want used. ROFL.....man...I just dont read threads anymore (pwned by myself)

I'd still go with Tru used (they can always be worked on by tru techs)
