help....

2 questions. First my lights are dimming, i can't find a h/o alt for myvan so,should i buy 2 batts or one.

I have a boss 3000 its 1200 watts rms @1ohm.

Secondly, i tried setting my gains, however i can't bc of voltage. Drop, with my amp to push all 1200 without clipping is 34.3 volts i maxed at 29 and then. it just. Dropped as i turned up my gain down toabout. 25. Is there another way i can do this .... i don't have a clamp.

First off, there no way that Boss puts out 1200 watts rms. Let me guess, it's a Phantom right? What's it fused at? 30-40 or so I'm guessing... It's most likely dimming your lights because it's a POS. What gauge wire are you running?

2 40a fuses, i have a ,100a inline fuse it states it pushes 1200 rms @1ohm. It takes 2guage wire idk. Im going to get an aq 1500.1

Im running 4guage at the moment, i just bought these. subs and someone gave methe amp. I didn't need any larger before. Im going to upgrade to 0 and do the big 3. I just wasn't sure if ill need oneor 2 batteries since ican't get an ho alt

Get a real amp and do the big 3. Will help dimming a lot and the boss is garbage sorry you even got one free but adding batteries is just going to kill your alt in 6 months or will kill the batteries because they wont all get charged. I would just do the big 3 and a XS3100 under the hood

Didn't mean to get down on you OP. As SilveradoSS stated the Boss amps leave a lot to be desired. That AQ you're looking at is a good amp. Can't speak on the efficiency but it's got to more efficient than what you're running. What size is your stock alt on your van? I run around 1200 rms in the wife's Honda Odyssey with no Big 3, and a 4 gauge installed. I don't get real bad voltage issues or dimming. And the alt is pretty small I think....

Thanks, i would get a "good" amp but money talks and i don't have 800$ for that kind of amp. But yes big 3 and deepcell.

My stock alt is 110 amps. Mechman said they could build one but id have to fab pully assy and mounts. Bit too much for me. Esp for a vehicle im not gonna keep. Ill do all that when i get my crx done.
