Help with Vista to Seven upgrade

I am going from 32 bit vista to 64 bit

In order to go from 32 to 64 bit, a complete install is necessary, not just an upgrade. The DVD Microsoft send me is only one disk. Could a full-install possible fit on a single DVD? I do not have the backup DVDs (this took 3 or 4 DVDs) that my computer warned me to make when I first purchased it b/c I have lost them. Any suggestions?

I am asking if I have the right disk. I am worried I have the upgrade disk and not the full-install disk. Are they one in the same?

Why are you upgrading to 64 bit anyway, whats the difference?

BTW the upgrade and install disc are the same. What MS is saying is that you have to do what is called "custom install" under options, which formats and wipes out everything on the HD, and starts you over fresh basically. I prefer that method myself when changing or redoing OS's
