Help with tweeter placement

I'm in the midst of planning out my install for my component speakers.

Where I really want to place my tweeters is right next to the side rear view mirrors.

The diameter of the tweeters fit very well in that little triangle. But i'm wondering how I would get them in there, without them sticking out like a sore thumb like in that last picture.

Is there a special fit grill that can fit in those kinds of locations that I could buy? I know in more expensive cars, the factory tweeters that they give you are usually located there, so I would assume that there could be an aftermarket made for it?

If not, how would I make my own?

I was thinking maybe getting a peice of MDF, maybe 1/2" thick, cut it in the shape of that triangle, and take off that plastic piece, and cut a hole in both the MDF and the plastic piece so it could fit my tweeter. Then put the MDF behind the plastic cover,and any excess color left from the MDF, I could color black?

any other suggestions?

not quite sure but it seems like you don't have the necessary depth to make the tweeter flush with the triangle piece. what about putting them in the a-pillars?

yeah, thats why i was thinking the MDF peice, to add depth. but it wont look as natural.

A really easy way to get them in there....cut out an MDF ring to mount the tweeter to. Hot glue it with some dowl rods to the sail panel aimed how you want it, then use some kitty hair to form the shape, bondo to smooth it out so that it looks like a "stock" piece. Primer, paint and you're done!

But, have you used some velcro or double sided tape and played them with the tweeters temporarily mounted there to be sure that is the location you want for them ?

I probably should do that first. I was just speculating as to where I'm going to install it, the A piller sounds good. Orrr, I could take a crack at my first fiberglassing as well...

I'm still waiting on my amp before I install them, should be coming in shortly =D

Take squeaks advice. Try them in many different locations and phases before you choose a permanent mounting locations. proper aiming goes along way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
