Hello to everyone,

I'm new to this forum and to car audio in general. I wired by myself a woofer but here my knowledge in this niche ends. I have a Mercedes-Benz S-klasse w140 1995. The car is equiped with BOSE Sound System with 4 woofers on the rear shelve, 1 speaker in each rear door, 2 speakers in each of front doors and one central speaker under rear view mirror. I was amazed by the sound quality when I bought the car, this is the best stock system I ever heard. Now I want something more, I need an upgrade. Also I think the sound quality decreased because of the age of all audio components. I already upgraded my HU with Alpine IVA-d105r.

So i need advice to choose right components, and in general what I have to do. I want to fit all components with minimum modification to stock configuration. Dont want to install kick-panels, etc.

Thank you

This vehicle is going to require some expert care to properly upgrade the audio system. You don't need to use every speaker location for the upgrade, depending on how you want it to sound when it's done. You can't just buy some speakers and screw them in, and it's especially not recommended to use aftermarket speakers on a Bose factory amplifier if you want it to sound great.

each front door = 1tweeter (2.5inch) 1 speaker = (5 1/4 inch)

each rear door = 1 (3.5 inch) speaker

back shelf = 4 (6.5 inch) woofers

I think it will be difficult to found exactly the same sizes, or maybe not. I heard about people fitting 6,5" 3way in front doors(tweeter in the dash corners, where phone dedicated speakers are) without changing exterior grill.

As trumpet said... do not just slap any speaker into a Bose system. They are often low impedance drivers. Find someone with a lot of experience with your vehicle as well... they can be not-so-fun to install in.

your in for a ton of work. And like already said may need an expert to do the install The Mercedes vehicles aren't that easy to do and in a lot of cases require running all new wires for everything and not that easy to do

I can find someone that can do the install, but I dont want to let him choose the components. I want to form here an idea, to know what I need and what work should be done before I go to so said "specialists". I know I can find someone who will install it good but I'm not sure That he will also know what components are good, and how to properly adjust them. Some things I can do myself, I do a lot of things on my car. I only need advice to choose components, and from where to start because I dont have all money to buy all things now. Can I begin with a sound processor(or I dont need at all), what 3way components for front stage to choose, i dont want to throw money on some very expensive speakers when I can obtain some decent sound from cheaper ones.

Lets start with choosing 3way components for the front stage. Do I need 3way or 2way speakers will do well? I heard that focal and dls are good.

You could do the 8" as a front sub on its own amp and use it to bridge/enhance the gap between your 12" in the rear to the midranges
