ok i have a 2002 dodge dakota extended cab, i plan on taking out the back seat, but that still doesnt leave much room between the back wall and the back of the seat, my goals is to get as loud as i can with a sealed box. i prefer sealed boxes because of my musical preferences, i listen to alot of hard rock/metal and death metal, so the subs need to be able to keep up with a really fast double kick pedal. my current sub (AQ sdc2.5 15) cant keep up and gets really sloppy. so i was thinking maybe 2 IDQ10v3's or i was thinking to be unique maybe 4 8's. the amp i have to work with is DSC1000.1 - MB Quart 1 Ch 1000 Watt Amplifier buying a new amp really isnt an option, so i guess i was wondering if there are any other options for sealed applications to get as loud as i can off that amount of power while still being able sound good and keep up with the bass pedal.

i would say first goal is SQ, secondly i need to get alteast as loud as my AQ sdc2.5 15 on 500 watts, its in a 4.5cf box tuned to 38hz

budget for the subs is around 600 bucks

ID8V.3-D2 - Image Dynamics ID 8" Subwoofer

ARC8D2 - ARC Audio 8" 150 Watt Dual 2-Ohm Subwoofer

SSA Store - Sundown Audio SA-8 Subwoofer

http://www.caraudio.com/forum/car-audio-classifieds/252352-tru-bass-ultra-8-subs.html

get some tru bass 8's

for the price i prefer trubass then sundown as my top choices, then the ed5 8's
i was actually looking at the SA-8's but are they even out yet? it still says pre-order not to mention they prefer ported enclosures which id rather not do. uhmm actually i like the idea of 4 ID 8's but my only question is i dont have much experience with series/parallel wiring, so which would i buy D4 or D2 and how would i go about wiring them so i get a 1 ohm final load?

Shouldn't be much wrong with that AQ if in a good box. If in sealed, push your woofer down with no power to it. If it rebounds in less than a few seconds that is your problem. Silicone caulk the inside of the box and allow to dry for 24 hours before putting the sub back in. Ensure the box is large enough. Prefab boxes usually don't match up well to a lot of subs. They are intended to work in a bunch of applications instead of your specific application. Don't know what you got but it should match your sub. As for a loud sq sub, W7 is the bar to which others are measured. If you need spl and sq, Incriminator Audio: No Chrome, No Carbon Fiber, No BS! Period in 15. In a good box will be as accurate as any 10. Displacement size has nothing to do with subwoofer recovery when a quality sub is used. Slipknot has 3 drummers. I have straight sq subs up to 21" that will reproduce their kick drums accurately. If you want to stay away from the name game and get some of the best sq subs available for the price, DIYCable.com : Intro or Parts-Express.com under subwoofer category.

i dont exactly remember the exact specs of the box i built, i believe it was 4.5cf tunes to 38hz, i cant remember the port area off the top of my head though, its been a while since i built it. i just dont like the way it sounds, it sounds GREAT on rap, completely happy with that, but when listening to anything fast it kind of falls apart so to speak, and it really wont fit in my new vehicle anyway, i dont have anything in my truck right now, that sub was from my car. thats why i want like 10's or 8's or something, i would have to get dimensions but i MIGHT be able to squeeze 12's in there but i would definatly be tight. im actually leaning towards 2 beefy 10's sealed now

I just got a set of 10w7 blended to a system. Before I cut them down a bit, on owl city they were going 140 db @ 500 rms off an HCCA 250. Not bad at all for 10's on that kind of power. Box is 1.6 cu ft per side slot ported to 26 hz. They are pricey but nothing has surpassed them for sql since they came out. I imagine with rms wattage of the speakers and a larger ported box 145-146 would most likely not be out of reach. I go with mainly 10's(usually just a single) because I don't want overpowering spl. If you have room you may want to consider 12s if possible. No doubt it would be easier to get higher spl with a larger cone if everything else is comparable.

how loud would 2 IDQ 10's get if they each got 500rms and each had .8 cubes sealed? keeping in mind the truck has a small cabin.

or to save money, is there anyway i can put my AQ 15 in a sealed box? i cant fit that big of a box back there especially since i need room for my amps and stuff also, so ported isnt an option. ive heard AQ in a sealed box is a bad thing to do...but can it be done or would it just sound horrible?

hmm thats weird i just used the calc here http://www.bcae1.com/spboxnew2.htm to determine weather a sub is suited for sealed or ported( its the very first calc on the page) and i put in 30FS and .79 QES and it came up with a EBP of 37.97, and it said the sub is more suited for a sealed application, which is weird cause ive never eve heard of someone running an AQ sub sealed. anyone have any info on that?

well thanks for the help guys, but i decided to go with 2 Alpine type x 12's sealed and bought another dsc1000.1, the reason for the type x's is i have alpine spx17-pro comps in the front and an alpine HU, so i figure ill just get alpine subs, i hear good things about them, should be loud and clean, probably louder then i need in a small cab but thats what im going for //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif and yes i realize i went over my budget with buying another amp, but i think its worth it.

with that being said, anyone know what the best size box is for these subs? i plan on building it, but woofersetc says from .65-1.25 per driver, but that doesnt tell me much :p

those storm would of pawned the x's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
