help with subs for a hatch

Id spend the money and get a nice ~$225 12/15. Then just use that Hifonics amp, it will get the job done.

I can design you an enclosure for like $15 with everything you need, then another $40 in supplies and you have a box for $55 out the door.

Just PM me.

If galacticmokey designed me a ported box, single 12'' alpine type r, and the 1200 watt hifonics brutus amp would i be heard from at least a block away?

Would that beat harder than 2 12'' kicker comps in a ported box?

being heard far away ist what you want if your trying to be loud. sound deadening will be more important. how loud something will get depends on the box. car and a lot of other things, nobody can tell you what will be louder. though 2 12's have more cone area. so if you port the 12's they might be louder, a before again depending on the other things as mentioned

how much do you have to work with? the single type r with a good ported box and the hifonics amp will be a great budget setup. especially if your just getting into car audio. you could do this or close including wires, box and other install stuff you will need.

I have all of the wiring already in the car. i have an amp to use temporarilly until i get a new one, so for now all i need is a sub/subs and a box. once i get the subs i will get an amp that matches them perfectly. for the sub/subs and box i want to spend around $300, then later on i will spend around $200 for an amp.

I need to figure out if i will get 1 or 2 subs, what size to get, what subs to get, and i will probably make my own ported box. I want it to be louder than my friends 2 12'' comps in a ported box, because ive heard his and they are not quite loud enough for me.

for 250 you could get the ssa icon, would do circles around your friends setup on 1k rms and a nice ported box tuned 8-10 hz below the resonant frequency of your hatch. thats what i did. though i was going for "sql" i t so happened that my car peaks at around 40hz so i tuned to 30 for the sq and it sounds great, but gets loud when i want it to but never out of place either.

yeah the hifonics amps are a bit over rated but you get enough power to do the icon some justice even though it could take 1200 daily. would be better if you got an amp with more power to have some headroom.

stick the sub in a 1 cubic foot box and play test tones to see which tone sounds loudest to you. would be ideal if you did it on a mic to be more precise. you could design your own box for free of your go to the re box calculator. at http://www.reaudio.com/speaker_box/LPort_Box_Calc.html=
