Woof! Woof!
i have a 10 inch L7 and i metered it and it read a perfect 4 ohms on each VC but it rattles real bad in and out of its sealed .9 cuft enclosure. when pushing the sub in and out the VC dosnt scratch the motor or anything. sounds like its coming from the cone but there are no visible inperfections on this sub at all. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

i have a reg cab s10, i have to glass a box soon and add ports. right now just going with a prefab sealed. the sub looks perfect. i cant see any seperation at all. sub looks mint

i have the sub uninstalled out of the box, no VCs rubbing, the sound sounds like is coming from the cone. anyone have any idea why it would sound like its blown with no visible signs of a blown sub.

tinsel leads are woven in so it shouldnt be that, i will check those out again. i makes the rattle noise in and out of the box. box was caulked real good and the seals was pretty good. i took it out of the box and played it free air to see if i could notice anything and it still makes that noise in or out of the box.

the cone dosnt seem to have any cracks. i think you might be right with something getting sucked up into the dust cap. maybe some loose chunk of sawdust. deffinately something to check out. thanks. ill go from there and see if i can figure something out.

A very common problem with an L7 is for the glue that holds the surround to the basket fails causing the slapping noise you are talking about. To check this simply lift up on the surround with your fingers and look under the cone if you see the surround lift at the edges then that is your problem. IT should be tight to the basket and not lift at all. This can be fixed only by getting some glue back under there. Another way to check it is you can just play the sub and stick something along the side of the sub to hold down the surround. Not on the rounded part just in the space between the rounded part of the surround and the basket the noise will go away and you will confirm that this is your problem.

I had this problem on both my 15's and had to reglue it. When playing and looking everything seemed 100% fine other then the noise. When I pushed up from under the sub at the edge it lifted right up. I used some glue that the tech recommended to me at kicker and presto problem solved. Kind of hard to explain so I hope that helped happy hunting and good luck

PS:the ONLY reason this was said to me by kicker was because i was way out of warrantee and i asked if there was anything i could do to fix it on my own. if your still covered just send it in

also check the magnet and make sure nothing is wrong on it. if you have the new L7, it will be much harder to look at it but if there is a small split in it, the coil will be thrown off and rub. this sounds like crap too.
