I recently installed a Kenwood KDC-X889 (Saturday to be exact) and was wondering about the EQ settings and so forth. Basically I want to know what a good range is to set them at. Also, Where should I set my Sub-sonic filter on my amp (adjustable from 15-35hz) All equiptment is listed in my sig. if anymore info is needed.

eq settings is all up to you. how many bands does that HU have? i mean if you feel that some frequency ranges aren't playing loud enough. lets for example 5khz isn't playing loud enough. go to 5khz and bump up the eq a bit. if lets say your tweets are very sibilant (which is between roughly 5-10khz) then tone down that area a bit. EQ settings is all up to you.

The EQ in the eXcelon KDC-X889 is a 4 band PEG with each band having the following possible center frequencies:

  • Band 1: 60Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, 120Hz, 160Hz, or 200Hz
  • Band 2: 250Hz, 315Hz, 400Hz, 500Hz, 630Hz, 800Hz, or 1kHz
  • Band 3: 1.25kHz, 1.6kHz, 2kHz, 2.5kHz, 3.15kHz, or 4kHz
  • Band 4: 5kHz, 6.3kHz, 8kHz, 10kHz, 12.5kHz, or 16kHz

I messed around with it a bit last night. Got it to where I like the sound of everything. I think I may have blown one of my Boston mids in the process though. Time for some new ones.

My first post:)
Set subsonic at around 20 or 25hz...depends how low your subs go.

Great job on your first post having absolutely nothing to do with the question regarding the EQ (in a head unit) that was originally asked!

But aside from that, //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/bigwave.gif.16324171cad2db62cf4f16568b038478.gif Welcome to the forum //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Cool, thanks guys. This is what I was thinking but wasn’t sure. I’ll go out and retune tomorrow in some daylight.

Honestly I don't think it would be hard for them to make it where you use android auto AND your own music source. They made it able to do so...
