Well, to make a long story short, today, after trying to diagnose what was wrong with my amp, it finally just up and smoked.

Opened it up and here is what I saw:

Fried Output Transistors?

Cracked Output Transistor?

I believe these are all output transistors? Regardless, I've read that you can replace them.....I just don't know the whole procedure, as well as finding the exact replacement transistor.

I'm very comfortable soldering, and I have a basic knowledge of electronics. If needed, I can get my uncle to help, who has a really good electronics background. What I could use is some general guidance as to what to measure, what to check, replace, etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Plan on spending more then the amp is worth making mistakes before you start. Unless its something you really want to learn how to do, take it to a repair shop. BCAE1 has a good primer for the n00bx.

OK....well, I would really like to learn how to do it. However, if there's a lot to mess up, I'll probably to take it to a shop. Any clue what something like that would run me? If it is over $60, I'm tempted to sell it and get a new one.

Contact db-r. I'm pretty sure most amp repairs are over $100 though.
