My car originally came stock with 6" subs and of course I wanted more. Original plans where to go with an Q or id max my plans for the car changed, I wanna keep as light as possible while having some bass. I decided to cut out the original sub locations to fit 8" subs. I wanna do this right the first time so I have some questions. The sub that i'm going with is to be in a ported box only and that's where the questions come in.

You can see my previous knowledge of deadning here, I have a roll of RAMMAT coming in so all of this will be very well dampend. I also wanted to do sludge but again my previous knoledge fu...d it for me I sprayed the inside with rubberized undercoating:crap:. Notice there's is TWO chambers. I did the math and have about a 1.3 sqft of air space per side.

The second chamber has a tunnel, port like chamber that fires to the back of the car.

It fires into a huge sealed chamber. Question is will it work if I seal the chamber that fires into the back with MDF then use a real port, will the port firing into a sealed chamber affect anything, I'm going for loudness rather than sq since these are only 8's. What do you think.

Yes camaro. Jmanp...are you serious?? Why is that? Other than the tunnel everything else is sealed up pretty good. Should I go sealed then?

There was a build with pics of this on a Camaro forum, can't remember which one though, sorry. I believe they removed most of the panels and formed a fiberglass enclosure with a MDF ported baffle. Someone on here linked it, that is how i ran across it.

You would have more success by just building a simple box, in the hole of the hutch area

Even a single 10” would work better and be lease work and trouble than jacken around

With those side 8” subs right next to your head

You could even remove the box when needed; if you’re really worried about the so-call weight issue
