Help with possible headunit short

Okay I have a kenwood 7017 double din, and a week ago while I was listening to a song the unit just shut off. I thought it was fried and was about to trash it, when I was searching online and someone told me to reset the unit. Well I did this and the unit came on but is in standby mode. I can use all the features but whenever I try to use the tuner or read a cd the unit shuts off. Then I'm force to have to reset it again. I don't know where to go from here I don't want to pay kenwood 300 odd dollars to fix a hopefully simple problem. Any help is welcomed.

Thanks,

same thing sorta happened to me with the cd player shutting off and on, i pulled it out checked the wires n then pulled the fuse out n just cleaned it off n put it back it, mb that will work for you

Well try taking the whole unit out and checking your crimp on each wire, if all look like they are a good connection; try buying a bottle of canned air and cleaning the unit around the wire harness and connections area. Make sure its grounded, too!

Hope this helps...

Okay I'll try this in the morning. Quick note: Weird think happend the unit will play DVD's but without sound. So whenever I select a feature to include sound the unit shuts off. I'm starting to think it's not the unit itself it might be a amp. Would the unit shutting off have anything to do with that it's on a circuit breaker?
