help with port posotion PLZZZ

hey guys im building this box righ tnow

and so far i got the bottom port back and sides together and glued up! but i was wondering can i ahve the subwoofer on the opositie end ofrom where the port is or does the sub have to be like behind the porT?

and 1 more question the port width says to maek it 2.5 inches but i accidelntly made it about 2.6 inches bbetween the 1st port peice and about 2.9 inches from the 2nd port piece and the back peice just wondering what this would make my tuning frequency? roughly thanks, jeremy

Having the uneven port wall will increase the tuning frequency and making it bigger will also increase the tuning frequency. It's probably tuned about 2-3hz higher.

I don't understand your other question.

don't position the port more than 90 degress off the face of the cone. unless it's bandpass

wha ti meant is like u now how the port is on the left side does it matter if i ahve the subwoofer all way way over on the right side?

if you mean that the sub and port are facing the same direction the placement really isn't that big of a deal. if you have an L shaped port then i would place the sub closer to the port. if the port is U shaped then i would place the subs far from the port. here is a pic of what i mean.

if your port is like this then put the subs like this

you can see that the subs are not centered in the box but moved away from the port.

if your port is L shaped like this then i would position the subs closer to the port. the idea being that the subs backwave doesn't travel right into the port. it may or may not have an audible difference but i would do it just to be safe
