Help with new 06 Mustang setup

Hello everyone!

I have been here off and on for a while now to get ideas for other cars I've had. My last car was a Camaro. In that I had two set ups: a DD9915 15" sub in a fiberglass box that could run ported or sealed, focal polyglass 6.5s up front and focal coaxials in the rear...after I stopped trying to compete i switched the 9915 out for 2 Typre-R 12s. Earthquake PHD-5 pushing the subs & an Earthquake 4ch for highs. I've had many, many set ups prior to that, but those were easy set ups(Square boxes). I'm stumped on this 'Stang...

I sold all my old equip, so now I'm piecing together my new install. I am basing which sub I go with based on which 8" sub will fit the stock Shaker500 location. So far I'm looking at 2 choices because I don't want to mod the stock location. These choices would be either the Kicker SSMB8 OR the JL Audio 8w3v2. Which means I will either get a 12" L5 or a 12w6. I know JL makes a stealthbox for my car, but I don't want to spend 1K for it. The MTX stealth box is also out, however a 200w sub is not up my alley lol. I know I won't move the same amount of air that I used to since I don't have a roof, but I need SOME thump. I'm thinking of only putting in one 12 or maybe two(each side of trunk) so that the trunk is still useable & I can get to the spare tire if need be.

Budget is somewhat of a concern, but I'm still in the planning stages. I'm not going to go with a full on custom fiberglass install or modding the car to make anything fit. I want whatever I put in to be removed easily when/if I decide to get rid of the car.

Originally I was looking @ the following...

Amps

ZX700.5 - 5 Channel Amp - All speakers except Sub

ZX500.1 - Subwoofer Amp

Speakers

SSMB8 - 8" Door Subs

Kicker RS 6.5 - Front Compo Set

Kicker RS 6x8 - Rear Coaxials

1 or 2 12" L5 Kicker - Subwoofer

What got me thinking about JL Audio was the 8w3v2 sub that fits into the stock door location, however I'm not paying 1K for the custom stealth box. Bassforms makes a decent looking enclosure...but I don't know if I want to spend 500 for two boxes + $$$ for subs. If anyone knows of any other manuf please let me know. I want to run RE stuff since it was my favorite out of all of the equipment I owned. I still have my old XXX18 sitting around waiting to be reconed and rebasketed into a 12 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

Sorry for rambling...but I figured the more info the better. Thanks for reading my book!!

PS - It's a convertible and not a coupe

Do ID CTX65CS components in the front and CTX 5x7 or 6x8s in the rear. That will sound much better than the Kicker components for sure.

Do some research on those components and PM me if you are interested as I have a set //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I'll keep looking....I keep getting joked on @ work because all I do is surf eBay lol. does ID make a 8" sub for up front? My main thing is I want everything to match and sound good...without killing my budget. I guess for my compo set I would like to stay close to 175 tops and around 150 for a set of 8" subs. Rear fill isn't that big of a deal for me...2-way or 3-way coaxials aren't that expensive.

Can anyone recommend a decent 3ch or 5ch amp to power everything @ or under 250?

The components would be great for you then since they are right in your budget! As far as an amp to push all of it for under 250.... thats gonna be hard to find.

It would be hard to find? The 700.5 Kicker ZX amp is under that price I believe...on Fleabay. I was about to pull the trigger on the 5ch and interior speakers, but I'm still reasrching. The only thing I purchased so far is the Pioneer Premier AVIC-F90BT.

get a nice set of comps and a amp to power them for upfront and no rear fill and you will be happy

i say go with a set of cdt comps cl-62cf comps for under 200 bucks or around there from exige on here, and go with a used zx850.4 here on forum a guy is selling for around 200 bucks use the 1st and 2nd channel to send 150-175rms to each side for your comps, and then bridge the other 2 channels to run to your sub will give it 425-450rms at 4ohms

I've used CDT before, Only used their front stage image tweets though. I wanted an 8" replacement for the stock sub. I was leaning towards the kicker ssmb8 because it's better for midbass. i think that would help round out the component set. I have never used one amp to power everything. Is that a good amp? I wanted a 5channel for everything interior and a seperate sub amp. I just want to make sure I push the sub the way it needs to be pushed. It will be hard to get a lot of bass with my top down anyways, which is part of the reason why I want to replace the 8s up front. I'll probably add something to the rear just enough for back seat drivers...but not enough to over shadow what's up front.

want some good midbass drivers look into cdt m6 they arent 8" but very beefy mids and can play low
cdt also makes some good 8" midbass as well
Funny that you mention it. I was also looking at the 8incher by CDT...the EF-8. It's supposed to fit well in the stock location too...I just can't find many reviews on it. Their image tweets were great, just didn't know how their midbass is. I hear nothing but good stuff about that kicker midbass, the SSMB8. You would steer clear of Kicker altogether?

well kicker makes so great products specially their amps they are solid amps and their subs arent bad either

but i never ran the midbass i figured there was better out there

I wouldn't use the sub channel of a 5-ch amp to power your 8" Midbasses. If anything, run the 6.5 components off the channels 1-2, midbasses off 3-4 and sub off the sub channel. Skip the rear speakers...
