help with counter strike source

i just got counter strike source works fine and i can see many servers..., but when i try to join it says i need to update game version, how can i update without steam? i google'd + searched torrentz.com but i couldent find any "aftermarket" updates

halflife2 solo was awsome and the original counterstrike was pretty badass so i wanted to give this one a shot

**** i used to play CSS with the hacked steam accounts but they started updating the servers everyday so i had to download new hack patches weekly.. wasnt worth my time but that game is madd fun.. proly wind up buyin it over the winter to keep myself entertained..

anyone kno how much it runs? hopefully its still not 50 i dont even want HL2 jus css
