Ok I was thinking about running an amp to some 3way pioneer speakers I have in my ext. cab Toyota Tacoma. The speakers bass quality drops significantly when I get towards the top end of my volume. I thought I might be one of two things 1) my speakers are just pieces of crap 2) the more I stress the head unit I have for wattage to each speaker, it doesn't have enough juice to supply a clean quality note. So I am wondering is this what is wrong an should I get an amp to run them to have sufficient power so I'm not running my head unit to the ends.

Well with an amp, they'll definitely put out more power. The sound quality will be depend on the specific amp you get. In most cases, the speakers will sound noticeably better amped since most head units put out 20-30rms x 4. I can't guarantee your midbass will satisfy you if the speakers are amped because I don't know which speakers you're using. Plus, your midbass preference may differ from mines. Maybe this is a good time to check the speakers you have, may be time to upgrade those.

I mean I really don't want to upgrade door speakers yet cause I just put these in here bout five months ago I just think an amp will keep em from crakling at higher volume. I need An amp around 70rmsx4 I think that's what these speakers rms at I now they got a 350w max but that's not really important because I'll never realistically push them like that

The hu Is 50 watts x 4chan 4ohm, my speakers rms at 70 watts so there is 20watts of strength that can be put to them. And it's gotta be my hu because im not overloading them I have to be pushing my hu too hard. I need a good amp to supply some quality watts to these speakers good ideas for amps in the 65-75w rms range would be great!! oh and the hu has 4v pre amp do its not cause its some crappy 2vs

Your hu doesn't even put out 20x4 rms, just so you know. And there isn't a big differnence between 2v and 4v preouts. It equals lower settings on your amp gains and that's about it... A nice 50 x 4 rms amp on those speakers would sound waaaaaaay better than your hu.

Well I'll be damned knew there was flaw in my info somewhere. Anyways what's a good quality 4 Chan amp something like a kicker? or Memphis? Ideas welcome!!!
