help with alpine 9887

i recently purchased a brand new in box alpine cda-9887 with the ipod cable for $304 and am very excited to get it but anyways i noticed a picture of the radio's harness and was wondering why it had what looked like to be quick slides on some of the wires or is it like a crimp or sumthing? anyways how in the hell am I supposed to connect the wires to anything? Do i just cut them off? because that what seem to make the most sense to me at least but anyways.... Any help is greatly appreciated.
