Help with a 2.1?

I dont know where to start. I am going to be using it mainly for music and games. I don't really watch too many movies. I know that has more to do with my tuning though.

What I really need help with is finding a decent receiver and speakers. I wouldn't mind building the cabinets and doing a DIY setup. The main source would be my 360/computer. As for features... I don't need something very complex. Looking for any kind of help to get me started really. Even some links to good basic reads on HT.
