Ok so here is my problem. I have a 96 Impala SS, and I have even had 2 Caprices in the past, which are body wise identical on the inside. The problem I have always had with these cars is getting the bass inside of the car. I recently heard a 5th order bandpass box design ( correct me if wrong) with 2 12 Inch ported Directed subs off a 1000.1 in a ported box with a port going through the deck tuned to 35HZ which was insanely loud. As a matter of fact it was louder than my old set-up of 2 Type R 15's and a Orion 2500D. So I have been thinking about trying to run a 5th order bandpass in my Impala.
But here is the problem....
*Keep in my mind 2 things*
1. Even though it is not recommended I am trying to still run my 6x9's. The stock speaker size in Impalas/Caprices are 4x6, and when installing 6.5 components, I have never been able to get the supreme sound I want out of the doors. So I want to keep the 6x9's*
2. It's a 96 Impala, so I am trying to keep it as original as possible with-out doing to much modifications, such as cutting and etc.
So here are the ideas I came up with:
A. Removing the 6x9's, installing tuned ports in the 6x9 holes, and then put the 6x9's in compact speaker enclosures.
PROS: Can tune the ports correctly and no cutting through the deck will be required
CONS: 6x9 boxes are ugly as hell //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
B. Leave the 6x9's in their place, cut a whole through the rear deck, and and install the port this way.
PROS: Will look greatly better and I have heard this setup before and was amazing.
CONS: I really don't want to cut through the rear deck because I want to keep the car as orignal as possible.
C: Leave the 6x9's in their place, and cut a hole through the rear back middle arm rest.
PRO: 6X9's Stay in stock position, and I can lift the rest up and down, concealing it.
CONS: I have the amps mounted on the rack I would have to cut through, and most likely I would have to mount the amps on the box.
I considering going with option B, but I am open to opinions and ideas, please help me!
