i have 16 infinity 1262w's d4's running off a saz 3500 @.5. i built a ported clamshell for it but it isn't performing like i hoped it would.

gonna be building a 4th order in january but wanna get the design verified. (note: initial design was done by 2000lade, i just tweaked with it). never designed or built a 4th order before.

outer dimensions are 59.5 depth. 33 height. 37.5 width

16 subs. 8 per sealed side.

qts - .46

Vas - 2.83 ft^3

Fs - 25

the sealed area will be 7.93871 per 8 subs. so Vr - 15.87742 cubic feet - sub displacement accounted for

ported area. Vf - 17.88276 cubic feet.

double baffled loading wall. single baffle will give me 18.4

i modeled it up on winisd. port is 19x19. tuned to 45.5. sub and port displacement accounted for.

45.5 hz tuning. all displacement accounted for.

note:2000lade suggested a 19.5x19.5 ported 3 inches long. said it would tune to 45. kinda confused on why he said that. hes the guy with 48 sa10's in his truck. he also said that 2:1 ported:sealed was what he would shoot for but i just don't have the space for that in my tiny *** 4runner. so its looking like 1:1.

thanks all!!

vent mach on all 3 are green and .03. i'm assuming that means i shouldn't have any problems with port noise

In my experience the 1:1 ratio has not worked, I tend to do 1:3 and get good results.
hmmm crap...should i stay away from this design then? the winisd modeling up seems okay but i have no idea how it'll end up in real life, never dealt with these things before. in general, what doesn't work out with the 1:1 ratio?

1:1 from my understanding has a very flat response and sounds very good on music but tends to be less efficient. The larger you make the ratio, the peakier it wil become, but the more efficient it will be at your peak.
well this is purely for daily. dont care for metering high. wanted to do a cone area/groundpounder build. would it work for this?

*edit - oooohh, didnt even notice it was you 2000lade, hiiiiiii. no one would say anything on smd so i didn't wanna bump/press the issue/bug people so i'm trying my luck here. looks like people are on all the forums anyways lol. also, how did you get the 3 inches of port for tuning to 45? i dont get it :/

how would the subs model up with .75 each sealed? that would give you closer to 2:1. roughly 6 cube per sealed and 22 cube for ported. or run 12 12's....6 per side. also, not sure what your ported clam is spec'd to but any possibility of just sealing it up at the back where it's ported and turn it into a 4th order and see how it sounds??

impedence rise would be uber high

ill model up .75 sealed and see how that goes. i dont have a garage where im at so i cant really do anything to the clam rite now, ill have a lot of free time and a garage in january so i'ma try walling it properly and then sealing it. i already had a nice lil discussion on smd about things to try with the clam, just need the time, space and tools to do it. honestly i think that box is kinda effed. just wanna verify this design so if my tweaks don't help i can jump right into this.

ported:sealed 20:12 tuned to 45. its the dark blue one. left the others on for a comparison.

this scares me :/

i don't need really need a 8 db gain on anything. i just want it to sound good on music and be a groundpounder. seems like everyone is saying it'd be better if i could do a bigger ratio, but 4runners are the smallest suvs ever made and it's all i have to work with //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif. 4th order seem to be the only way besides a ported or sealed clamshell that i can fit all 16 subs in (i don't even want to try 6th order).

So about a month ago I received a lot of help with a clamshell for 16 12's, infinity 1262w's. I ended up with a bad design and a badly built box. 2000LaDe was awesome and design and sketched up a 4th order for me and after some research this is what i ended up building. Everything I'm posting now was done in the last 3 days or so. I just graduated and have some free time before the real world kicks in.

I added a bunch of wiring between my 2 rear d3100s. note: I've been in car audio for 4-5 months now and have been adding random wiring along the way. yes it is ugly as f*ck. yes I should clean it up. but it works for now

be nice :p

in there is 3/0 welding, kicker hyperflex, stinger hpm, the monster pro stuff that's so **** stiff you could probably use it for bracing a box and db link elite soft touch.
