Im gonna build an RE home stero for the parties that get thrown here. Not really an HT setup i guess, but rather a 2.1 setup with two mini-towers each running a pair of RE RE components, and an RE SX for the substage

Anyways, im looking on opinions for HT sub enclosures. Im going to throw the RE SX (18) in 6-7cubes @ 28-30hz, depending on opinions i get here.

Im mainly concerned about how the box itself should be implemented, in that i dont know what kind of port/subwoofer firing direction works best

Any input would be great.

corner loaded. that means firing into the corner of the room seems to have the better output from what ive seen and have been reccomended by ppl on home theater forums.

but urs is almost like a dj system to say so i wouldnt know.

kinda tuned high for hometheater no?

tuned very high for home theater.

Like i said in my first post though. This is mainly just a stereo setup rather than for home theater. The amount of time it will be used for music will be by far greater than movies.

Honestly, have the sub facing either down or toward a wall, and port toward a wall. Most HT subs are down firing. IIRC, my Dad's old HT had down firing sub with port firing left right at a wall... and that shook the room no problem. Not sure on the tuning, though.

I had my computer sub out in the open, I put it in my closet, where it makes a U shape, with port facing the wall, and the output increased exponentially.

As for tuning, I'd say somewhere between 40-60... not sure on spacial requirements, though.

wow, really? Tuning that high for a system thats going to be playing mostly rap?

I figured that toward a wall or down would be my best bet. I was either going to do port and sub toward room, or both toward wall. I guess i should probably stick with that, because then i can have both //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

Home audio is not home theater. If you're just looking for some extra low end that is loud and good for music, you can stick with a normal car audio designed enclosure and throw the subs in a corner. It will work great for parties and whatnot where the listening position isn't really in one place. Firing into a corner will usually generate spikes in the frequency response that correspond to the dimensions of the room though. It's not really a huge concern since it's not for critical listening. Down firing the sub and port can work well as can firing the sub to the floor and the port to the ceiling.

I guess i'll just keep it basic then. 6-7cu ft @ 32-ish hz it is.
