help w/ 18" BTL enclosure

so to make a long story shot, the sub is going to be fireing up, and do you think i should port it to: towards trunk, towards cabin, towards right side (passeger side) of trunk?? also what should i tune it to? It is goign to be my daily driver, but i am goign to be competeing with it (was thinking high 30s or low 40s, 38-40HZish).. and lets be honest, BTLs dont have the best SQ in the first place.... looking for some input, thanks!

the higher you tune, the smaller the enclosure will end up. if you're tight on space tune to 38-40HZ. If you have a lot of room, I would tune a little lower.

You should think about aeroports.

In some cases, they actually increase dB over slot ports... and they take up a LOT less room.

Will you have any room outside of your box in you trunk when you're done? If so, External Aeroports FTW

And 6^ft isnt quite ideal, but will work just fine for that woofer. Tune to say 36 or so and keep on truckin bossman

I think the Fs is in the low 30s

the only way i will have room for external ports, is if i port to the right side of the trunk, i am planning on building the box to the general shape of my trunk (to get the most usage out of the area i am using) but i will do some quick sketches (literally becasue i don';t know how to get my designs off google sketch-up) so i will quickly draw the options and post pics

yea that is what i would like to do, although the only thing is, the ports will not have alot or room to get the proper air cirucation (the trunk lid will be pretty close to the ports).... any other input anyone?

I was considering it, but if i wanted to do something along those lines, i could just port into the fold down armrest instead of hacking up the rear deck.... i really dont know... i am leaning towards porting to rear, or doing external ports to the right side of the trunk....

I had my Lincoln Like that and wasnt happy at all, I dont know if it wasnt done properly or what. But yea, I see what ur saying bout hackin the rear deck out. I have been wantin to do it, but want to go to the junk yard to get a spare casue I hate to be left with it if it dont work out or I change my mind like I always do.
