Help using Pioneer CD-IV202AV i phone 5 lead

Hi im from England just stumbled across this forum seems more active than the uk audio forums so thought its worth asking on here I've just bought and installed a Pioneer AVHX3500 DAB headunit and I phone 5 lead CD-IV202AV now pioneer say you need to perform 2 updates first which I did and they went on fine it even comes up on the screen rgb input I phone (CD-IU201S) but every time I plug in the phone it says incompatible usb ? am I missing something obvious any help appreciated
